Hello! My name is Janet Wright, director of Okefeild Acres. Our adoption process has been developed over years of time, as I have seen certain needs that family's have. Hopefully this isn't too wordy, I tried to break everything down as simply as possible, covering each step that will be followed. Thanks for considering an Okefeild Acres puppy! |

To add your name to a reserve list before the puppies are born, we ask for a $100 deposit, most people |
|
|
|
use Paypal with their major credit card to make their payments. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
After the puppies are born, I will contact everyone on the reserve list, in order of reservation, to determine |
|
|
|
final color/gender choices. If there isn't a color/gender available that you were wanting, the $100 reserve fee would be refunded or could be applied to a future litter. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
If there is a color/gender that is available, another $200 would finish your deposit and hold your place on the |
|
|
|
list. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Weekly videos and pictures will be added to the nursery to let you watch your puppy as they grow. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Flights, deliveries and pick up times will be scheduled after you finish your deposit. This gives you the chance |
|
|
|
to check your calendar and set aside time for receiving your new baby. We offer air shipping through |
|
|
|
Continental Petsafe Program for $300 and hand delivery to Kansas City, St. Louis, Tulsa and LIttle Rock for a |
|
|
|
$50 gas fee. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
A couple of weeks before choices are made, I will contact everyone on the reserve list and schedule a time, |
|
|
|
in order of reservation, for families to either visit or to have a phone consultation to choose their new family member. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Puppy choices will be made when the litter is six weeks old, in order of reservation. After the puppies go to |
|
|
|
the vet and receive a clean bill of health, individual pictures of around 6 - 8 pics (on slideshows) for each puppy and their temperament test results will be added to the nursery, the day before choosing. This gives your family time to look everything over and discuss which puppies they prefer. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
If there is ever any doubt, on my part, about a questionable temperament, the puppy's name will be removed |
|
|
|
from the list of choices. This rarely happens, but it has on occasion. My goal is to provide only excellent tempered puppies to my adoptive families. If, by chance, this makes a puppy unavailable to you (due to lack of color/gender), your deposit would be refunded or it could be applied to another available puppy of your choice, after everyone else on the list has chosen their puppy. I know that this can be disappointing but it is imperative for you to be completely satisfied with your new puppy. |

Families are invited to write their questions down, as they think of them, before their scheduled visit/call, so |
|
|
|
that I can answer any questions that arise. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The temperament test results are the most important part of the adoption process. Keep in mind that |
|
|
|
puppies change rapidly and choices should not be made on how cute the puppy pictures are. The test results are very accurate and help match the puppy's temperament to your individual family situation. I will guide you to the puppies that would best match what you are looking for, so that you can make the best choice possible. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
At the time of your scheduled appointment, we will discuss more in depth what you are looking for. I will be |
|
|
|
happy to spend time with you comparing puppies to help you make the best possible choice and to answer |
|
|
|
any additional questions that you might have. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The day that your final choice is made, final payment for the puppy and any delivery charges is due. I have |
|
|
|
had problems with people putting off the final payment, then canceling at the last minute. If final payment is not received, the puppy will need to be relisted for adoption. This gives me time to give another family the chance to adopt the available puppy before they are eight weeks old. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
After choices are made, the weekly videos will continue until pick up or delivery, at eight weeks of age. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
For families with puppies that are being shipped, a folder with paperwork will be mailed to to you a week |
|
|
|
before delivery. The enclosed contracts will need to be signed and mailed back to me so that I can sign your copy of the health warranty and mail it back to you. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
A couple of days before receiving your puppy, I will e-mail final flight confirmation numbers, for those puppies |
|
|
|
that are being hand delivered or picked up, I will confirm delivery times with everyone. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
On the day of delivery, for those puppies being flown, I will call you when your puppy has been checked in at |
|
|
|
the airport. You will be able to watch your puppy's flight progress by logging into the Continental website. |
