Ozzie is a handsome boy full of cheerful energy and curiosity. Sweet, playful, and people-focused, he thrives on interaction and loves engaging with toys. His temperament makes him a fantastic match for a family looking for a fun-loving, medium energy companion to grow up with.
Ozzie learning all the right things for his age, including:
resting quietly in his crate for up to seven hours
ringing the potty bell to go out
using the litter box and doggie door to keep living space clean and potty free
coming when called
walking up and down stairs
walking on the leash willingly
working on impulse control against jumping on people and furniture
This has been a big week of changes for us! Cathy has started crating us by ourselves with a chewy and we have received our first Parvo vaccination and microchip. Playtime with toys and each other has increased and our little personalities are beginning to emerge (such cuties we are!)
Marisa and Chasedy have been taking us through our Conditioned Emotional Response exercises (click bold link to see a video) and we are handling squeezes, tail pulls and paw squeezing without much notice. This very important process helps us to handle the bumps and tugs we will experience when around children.
Next week we will be meeting our new families! We get to show off during Facetime calls and visits and can’t wait to find out who our new puppy parents will be!
Here we are playing and interacting with our toys. We are still pretty babyish but are doing great for our age. Enjoy watching!
We are now four weeks old and this has been a big week! Our eyes are now fully open and we are beginning to respond to Marisa and Chasedy when they take us through our daily training. A litter box has been added to our nursery room and we are already searching it out to go potty in! We also finished up our Neurological Stimulation exercises and have started the next phase of our training and conditioning. Holding, cuddling and walking around during this development stage helps us to learn to be secure when being carried and handled.
At 21 days our ears began to open and we can now hear. We don’t know much about science but research says that during the first week of hearing puppies have very little startle response to loud noises so Janet makes sure to take advantage of this time to begin conditioning us to accept these noises while we are eating. Doing something pleasant while we hear, startle and recover conditions us to ignore the scary noises that we will encounter in our future life. Daily sound conditioning will continue at each of our meals until we go home to our new family. We are getting used to hearing:
The sound of a running vacuum, force blow dryer and clippers
Slamming doors, gates and dropped objects
Honking horn and running car
Thunder, wind storm,
Lawn mower, power saw, buzzers, bells
Children playing, thumps, babies crying
