At Okefeild Acres, we have specialized in two distinct types of Goldendoodles. We first began with the classic American Goldendoodle and now focus on the luxurious English Teddybear Goldendoodle. Both are known for their friendly temperaments and low to non-shedding coats, but there are important differences in structure, coat type and lineage.
American Goldendoodles
American Goldendoodles are a cross between an American Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They may also result from further generations such as Goldendoodle X Poodle or Goldendoodle X Goldendoodle. This is the original Goldendoodle that gained popularity in the U.S., known for its athletic build and affectionate nature.
• Loose sometimes wiry coat
• Narrow head and longer muzzle
• Lighter athletic bone structure
• Kind expression

English Goldendoodles
English Teddybear Goldendoodles are bred using European English Cream Golden Retrievers and Poodles. This type offers distinct advantages:
• A plush, full Teddybear coat
• A broader head and shorter muzzle
• Heavier bone structure
• Softer expression
• Typically better overall health
All of our current litters trace back to our imported European English Cream Golden Retriever lines for that classic “Teddybear” look.

Golden Retrievers
The foundation of our English Teddybear Goldendoodles are English Cream Golden Retrievers bred to European Golden Retriever show standards. They are most know for their light cream coat, calm temperament, and excellent body structure. While they can be AKC registered, their body structure and coat make them excel in conformation events based on European conformation standards, such as IABCA International dog shows.
