This has been a big week! We had another bath and trim, were microchipped and received our first parvo vaccination! Early exposure to water, blow dryers, and clippers is an important step in our socialization process, helping us to become confident and comfortable with grooming from a young age.
We’re thankful that our trainers provide these positive early experiences to set the foundation for well-adjusted companions - whether we’re destined for therapy work or as a beloved family member. Enjoy our new play video below!
We are now three weeks old and this has been a big week! Our eyes are now fully open and we are beginning to respond to Chasedy when she take us through our daily training. A litter box has been added to our nursery room and we are already searching it out to go potty in! We also finished up our Neurological Stimulation exercises and have started the next phase of our training and conditioning. Holding, cuddling and walking around during this development stage helps us to learn to be secure when being carried and handled.
At 21 days our ears began to open and we can now hear. We don’t know much about science but research says that during the first week of hearing puppies have very little startle response to loud noises so Janet makes sure to take advantage of this time to begin conditioning us to accept these noises while we are eating. Doing something pleasant while we hear, startle and recover conditions us to ignore the scary noises that we will encounter in our future life. Daily sound conditioning will continue at each of our meals until we go home to our new family. We are getting used to hearing:
The sound of a running vacuum, force blow dryer and clippers
Slamming doors, gates and dropped objects
Honking horn and running car
Thunder, wind storm,
Lawn mower, power saw, buzzers, bells
Children playing, thumps, babies crying
